Fear Of Failure
The fear of failure is the most paralyzing part of being a creative. It is what makes a life of creativity high risk - but it is also what makes it so incredibly worth it.
Knowing your worth allows you to move past the fear of failure becuase you know that what you are doing is not what defines you.
“If you want to make something great, you need to start MAKING. Striving for perfection can get in the way during the early stages of the creative process. So don’t get stuck planning.” We learn from Tom and David Kelley in Creative Confidence that prototyping is not only a powerful innovation tool, but powerful cultural value too because it allows for two things, one –the permission to be wrong, and two –for feedback. It removes the sacredness from ones idea.
So to all the creatives reading this, (and my future self), if you want creative success, you have to be prepared to shrug off more failure!
Here is to another lesson we'll spend the rest of our lives learning!
